The new sessions addressed all that, and more. At that time the library lacked marimba, celeste, piccolo trumpet, solo viola and solo double bass, and the implementation of performance styles was somewhat patchy. Two years after the sessions for the original library, the Symphonic Orchestra production team (headed as before by the Grammy-winning recording engineer Professor Keith O Johnson) returned to the original orchestral hall with the same pool of players to record a new set of samples. That's a great achievement in anyone's book.

The result of a meeting of minds between sampling supremos Doug Rogers (East West) and Nick Phoenix of Quantum Leap, the original 67GB four-volume set (reviewed in SOS in June 2004) gained widespread praise and is now the library of choice for many US composers and music directors. However, it still wasn't enough for some people - so East West have released this 18-disc expander set.Īlthough impossible to pronounce and liable to antagonise your spellchecker, EWQLSO (East West/Quantum Leap's Symphonic Orchestra) has become a byword in the orchestral sampling world since its release in 2003. Please note that the Vota instruments also require more RAM usage than the DYN HARD patches on which they are based.East West and Quantum Leap's Symphonic Orchestra was one of the largest orchestral libraries ever released, at 19 DVDs for the full edition.

Keep the Mod Wheel near the bottom of its range to hear a sound like the basic Men’s and Women’s “hard” choirs, or push the Mod Wheel up to incrementally increase the loudness and vibrato. “Vota” samples are added to the “hard” Men’s and Women’s choirs to add the option of very loud vowels (fff) with extra vibrato. Within this version, is the Symphonic Choirs Expansion containing VOTA (Voices of the Apocalypse content) which was recorded separately, at 24-bit resolution with a single mic position. This eliminates the need for artificial reverb.

By selecting different mic positions, users can mix these sounds together to create any kind of natural ambience their project requires. To achieve the feel of a live concert hall performance, each instrument and section was recorded with three mic positions: close, stage (conductor‘s position) and hall. The Choirs were recorded in the same concert hall, by the same team as the EastWest/Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra and blend perfectly with EWQLSO. In addition, the Platinum edition (Gold edition has one mic position and is 16-bit) is the first 24-bit Choir virtual instrument to include three simultaneous stereo mic setups (close, stage and hall), so users can mix any combination of mic positions to control ambience. Imagine typing words into your computer, in any language, and hearing a world class Symphonic Choir sing those words in any key(s) you play "live" on your keyboard controller! Well imagine no more, that's exactly what the revolutionary, award-winning EastWest Symphonic Choirs Platinum Plus Vota Expansion virtual instrument does. Digital Adapters & Miscellaneous Cables.
